So much for ‘Education! Education! Education!’

April 25, 2011

Schools in England are increasingly using unqualified support staff to teach lessons on a regular basis, a teachers’ union says.

The NASUWT union argues that using staff without qualified teacher status in the wrong circumstances is an abuse.

General secretary Chris Keates suggested the government was encouraging the practice to save money.

The government is to allow its flagship free schools to use unqualified teachers to give them more flexibility.

‘More flexibility’ is that also part of  ‘cutting red the red tape’? For both these please read: screw the service, save money and forget about accountability. Let’s call this what it is: a deliberately idealogical deceit of the British people. No politicians should ever be allowed anywhere near education because they have shown time and again none of them can be trusted to do what is in the interest of those who are going through the system.
